Sirha Omnivore launches the first Omnivore Nord in Northern France
Sirha Omnivore, the festival that has been promoting French and contemporary cuisine since 2003, is launching Omnivore Nord, a new event devoted to Northern France and Belgium.
This inaugural event will take place from 30 April to 2 May 2022 at the Palais des Congrès (Convention centre) in Le Touquet.
Omnivore Nord places the spotlight on the people, products and dishes that define Northern gastronomy
With this new event, Omnivore aims to promote the culinary ecosystem in the Hauts-de-France region and Belgium.
With its locally-oriented programme, the festival will bring together professionals from the food-services sector and "foodies" to discover the rich culinary heritage of the North. Around 50 well-known chefs and 30 regional producers will be taking part in the three-day festival.
Mirroring the format of the Omnivore Paris festival, Omnivore Nord will have stages dedicated to specific themes. This inaugural event will have two main stages :
- The Big Stage (Grande Scène): this area will host some thirty demonstrations by chefs and pastry chefs who will be preparing gastronomic specialities from the North. On Monday 2 May, a debate involving the Lycée hôtelier du Touquet and the Campus des métiers et des qualifications will address the subject of training and education for future talents in the restaurant industry. The debates will also address the issues of how to protect the artisan sector and food resources.
- The Artisan Stage: this area will showcase the know-how, experience and products of various local artisans.
The festival will also host a producers' village and a food-court showcasing northern specialities and produce.
