THE 2023 RIO BOOK BIENNIAL CONFIRMS ITS POSITION AS THE LARGEST FESTIVAL OF LITERATURE, CULTURE AND ENTERTAINMENT IN THE COUNTRY
The Rio Book Biennial returned from 1 to 10 September 2023. The event, organised and hosted by GL events at Riocentro, celebrated its 40th edition this year. Since its creation in the 1980s, the Rio Book Biennial has grown and offered visitors exclusive content, expanding from a 1,400 m² fair to a festival of almost 90,000 m² in 2023, exceeding by 10% the space occupied before the pandemic in 2019.
During 10 days, more than 600,000 enthusiasts, lovers and professionals of literature met and nearly 5.5 million books found a new home, which delighted the 497 publishers, labels and distributors present at the biennial.
A 40TH EDITION WITH MANY NEW FEATURES
Children attending the Rio Book Biennial were able to discover and enjoy a new play area called "A Great Reading Adventure". Spanning more than 600 m², children were immersed in an exciting experience, including the presence of the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland.
This year's new attractions included the "Masquerade Ball of Julia Quinn", the author of the best-selling novels The Bridgertons, which have been turned into a TV series. Visitors enjoyed a festive party inspired by the books in the saga!
