La Samaritaine re-opens its doors
Founded by Ernest and Marie-Louise Cognacq-Jaÿ in 1870, the small shop on the Rue du Pont-Neuf has become one of the most famous department stores in Paris, and established itself as a genuine institution in the French capital.
In 2021, the store will be re-opening to the public after undergoing extensive renovation work that has given a new lease of life to the iconic Art Nouveau building on Rue du Pont Neuf and added a contemporary style to the building on Rue de Rivoli.
LVMH has entrusted DFS – the world leader in the sale of luxury products for travellers – with the design and operation of La Samaritaine. Covering a surface area of over 20,000m2, it houses more than 600 iconic and avant-garde brands in the world of fashion, watches and jewellery, as well as the largest beauty-care area in Europe. Because Paris is unique, La Samaritaine aims to provide a showcase for French Art de vivre (Art of living) and has designed an original, exclusive space with a selection of restaurants and refreshment areas. From early morning to late at night, La Samaritaine provides a host of delicious options for gourmet breaks, whatever the visitors' desires.
