ILLUMINATIONS IN THE CITY OF LYON

1.8 million visitors from around the world

This year, some 1.8 million visitors came from around the world to discover (or rediscover) the city of Lyon transformed with illuminations over the course of four evenings of celebrations.

For the occasion, GL events Audiovisual provided its expertise and skills for several artistic projects in different venues around the city.

With the “Genius Scala” project, Guerric Péré, Jean-Claude Durual and Aurélie le Gougouec (from the Lyon-based landscaping company ILEX) plunged the spectators into the world of cinema. The GL events Audiovisual team provided the lighting equipment and rigging expertise (3D modelling) to install the show and managed the sound system to produce an immersion effect.

The renowned Gala evening of the Fêtes des Lumières Partners Club welcomed almost 630 guests. An intricate lighting system was put in place to produce a visual show in the lounges and in the main staircase of the Lyon Town Hall.

After several weeks of studies and tests,GL events Audiovisual was proud to provide support services to the City’s Public Lighting team for “METEOR”: a large-scale project involving sound, lighting and video, designed by the artist Jérôme DONNA, extending across 400 linear meters at the municipal Swimming Pool located on the Rhône river.

GL events Audiovisual also contributed to the lighting in the small Fourvière theatre (the “Odéon” theatre) for the Luminions du Cœur (Lanterns of the heart) show.

GL events Audiovisual demonstrated its professionalism and creativity during the 4 nights of the Light Festival by providing original, contemporary creations, installations and complex audiovisual systems.
