Opening of the shellfish season

Le Chorus welcomes professionals from the shellfish-and-fish farming trade.

More than 80 exhibitors representing 17 areas of activity will be attending the 33rd French National Shellfish and Sea-Farming Fair on 13 and 14 September 2017 at the Chorus Exhibition Centre in Vannes.

This major event for the sea-farming sector will place a greater onus on fish-farming in order to support the profession in terms of the future opportunities and market potential of the whole sea and fish farming industry. With over 2,000 visitors expected, the show will present equipment, materials, services, innovations and new products.

In addition to the traditional exhibition, professionals will have the opportunity to attend five workshops/conferences on the topic of "Innovation, a vector for the sustainable development of the aquaculture and sea-farming sector, including: "The European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF): schemes, feedback and practical questions", "Diversification of species: opportunities for development" or "Bio-sourced and recyclable materials: examples and outlooks."

Each year, the fair is becoming more and more international, and welcomes a foreign trade delegation. Following Japan in 2012, Australia in 2014, the United States and Canada in 2016,  Mexico will be centre stage this year, with a view to presenting the country’s aquaculture and shellfish farming. The fair provides a unique opportunity to bring together professionals from France and abroad so that they may share their ideas and experiences on the challenges facing the sector.

This year, the fair aims to build on the succcess of 2016, when there was a marked increase in the visitors from France (notably Normandy, Pays de la Loire, Vendée and Manche), and from abroad: Ireland, Scotland, Morocco, Spain, Italy, Russia, and the United States.
